Middle School/Junior High Clubs

Middle school/Junior High clubs should be run by students, but they need a lot of outside help. This is legal and appropriate.

What kind of help do you need?

Guest speakers should be used regularly. Not the same person all the time, but a rotation makes sense. You can have guest speakers by law and you should. It doesn’t mean that you should abandon you plan, have them speak on specific subjects (1:9 Plan subjects for instance) and coordinate their focus.

Mom’s can bring food! Sure, it sounds a little stereotypical, but there are moms out there who would bring food to your clubs on regular basis and that can be huge!

Event planners should be used. When you do an outreach, you’ll need help. Sound systems, advice, recruiting other help, money—these are all things that adults can help you with. Work with your coaches constantly and you’ll see things work much better.

And remember, 6th 7th and 8th graders have short attention spans (thank you television!) and need a lot of activity. Keep things short and moving.

There is huge potential for growth and impacting eternity when working in Middle School/Junior High campus ministry and things don’t have to be perfect. Just do your best and get as much help as your can.
